"Cool, Puzzle Bobble!" is what I thought when first seeing this game. So I bought it expecting an updated experience, and although it plays just fine I have some mayor problems with this game.
The key words here are downloads and freemium.
First there are constant downloads. The initial download is around 100Mb, but currently it's about double the size after downloading the levels. This happens every couple of rounds without any way to manage it. So if you want to play this offline, you're out of luck. To me this is totally unnecessary and there is no way around it.
Second of all there is a lot of freemium game characteristics, with coins you can earn, single use power ups you can buy, daily sign in bonuses and a character slot machine.
Let's take a closer look at that last one. There are 14 premium characters you can "win" by using 30.000 coins per pull of the slot machine. An other 22 are available for 6.000 coins. And every character can be leveled up 10 times, with the first level costing 12.500 coins.
All the different characters give a point bonus and the premium ones also give power ups (every 22 throws at lvl 1).
After playing 15 levels I had about 10.000 coins with about 7.000 coins in bonuses (daily, leveling, etc.). You earn about 250 coins per level, which means that it'll take a lot of time to earn premium characters and level them up.
So this is not what I expect from a premium game. The constant download of data and freemium traits of this game irritate me. At 5,50 euros I want a premium experience which unfortunately you won't find here.
Hopefully this review helps decide if this game is for them. I decided to ask for a refund...
