Swipe left to go back
Isn't it common and best practice to swipe from the left to close an article. Are these devs sleeping? It's so not intuitive in this day and age.

Worst Improvement
Since the BBC has decided to improve the app it has become little appealing in looks and behaviour. Captions lack photos and the always neutral appearance now looks biased by caption size differences. The interface doesn’t allow side sliding out of an article, photos can’t be zoomed, video advertisements which are longer than the video one hoped to see, etc. And now personal data is required for better experience?

Degraded user experience with the current app update
As of some weeks now since the last update earlier in 2024, it’s incredible but true, but BBC has succeeded in deleting some basic functionality. Two of the most used functions no longer work, namely using the swipe left to go back and the tap to zoom in on a photo. Apparently BBC doesn’t have the capability to right these issues.
